Heading into the Jewish Quarter

As always we are consulting our maps, brochures and guide books

There are signs, but who has time to read all that?

Some sections inside the walls are open areas.  The cart on the right was a common conveyance  in the Old City.

Sometimes you can see down to lower levels - part of this street below is one Jesus would have walked on.

A copy of the mosaic Madaba map of the Old City from the Byzantine era .
"The Madaba Map (also known as the Madaba Mosaic Map) is part of a floor mosaic in the early Byzantine church of Saint George at MadabaJordan. The Madaba Map is the oldest surviving original cartographic depiction of the Holy Land and especiallyJerusalem. It dates to the 6th century AD."
Beautiful and mysterious places everywhere

Oh so cool! I love "beautiful and mysterious places" esp if parts are almost 1500 years old:)
