Discipleship

Did you know that we are now trying to provide discipleship for anyone who goes through a baptism class?
Here we see Chad and Gregory on their way to getting together for their discipleship session today.

If you would like to be discipled, talk to John.

"He's so handsome!"

..... that's what Beth said when she saw our Principal today.  He was dropping off some things he heard we wanted.  Can you imagine finding time for that in your second week at a big job?

Nature

We had another moon flower bloom last night.  Beth drove around the neighborhood getting folks to come look.  This is what is left in the daytime.  Each bloom opens one night only.

I love the colors in the second photo.

Sunday evening...

...those wonderful youth gathered here after the picnic, waiting til it was time to go help at the Nazarene church.
We brought out the juggling balls and Lance turned out to be really good at it.

Faces....

....jump out at me everywhere!

Ez 10:14

Each of the cherubim had four faces: One face was that of a cherub, the second the face of a man, the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle.

more swimming!

After the baptisms.....

...we head for the church picnic

Baptisms

... we had 9 of them today!  It was a joyous occasion!

Acts 2:38
"Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."

Moonflower

Isn't that an irresistible name - moonflower?  I had to buy one this spring, and look what has happened!  Tonight is the first night we've had a bloom!  There are some more coming, so if you would like to know when one is blooming so you can come see it,  let me know.

The Coal Parade in Carmichaels

The Mayor of Carmichaels, our own Mike Dohanich!
Lots of school bands marched by....
This entry was squirting water!
Beth gets nervous about possible loud sirens....
Fire trucks and cheerleaders abound....
Moshe enjoyed riding Elihu's "dog" while Elihu was gathering candy thrown from the cars and trucks.
I think our granddaughter Samara might like a ride in this car!

Jesse's graduation party

Several JBC folks went to Jesse's graduation party at the Nazarene church.  It was great to meet his mother and stepfather and celebrate, as he says, what God has done in his life.

A Bike Trip

a bunch of young folks planned a bike ride to the Rices Landing Bike Trail from our church.
Jesse led them in prayer before they began.
It was a final fling before school, I think.

Last days of summer

I wonder if Bub Thistlethwaite has any idea what a blessing the swing set he made for the church has been.

I doubt he ever pictured this, though!

1 Tim 4:12
Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.

small town blessings

On our walk to the post office today Beth and I ran into Randy Pettit (for the second time), Dennis the postmaster, Esther and Elihu delivering meals on wheels, and Lenora and Paige.  There were several hugs delivered.
Before that John and Beth visited with the Watson brothers crew across the street where she got two hugs from Bill and one from Travis.
Then she got a goodbye visit from the Batmen, Mike and Wayne.
It's a good thing we never got that house in the country I always thought I longed for!  Can you imagine what a lonely life that might have been for Beth?

The Batmen Return!

Wayne and Mike are here to clean out the belfry!
They took out many bags of old insulation.
Very friendly fellows.

They report that the belfry is now clear and the bats are gone.  They guarantee their work for a year.
