Donut Sunday!

Donut sunday is always a popular time of fellowship. Thanks to the Mego sisters for a great spread for May!

Honoring Seniors

It was great to have 3 seniors present to honor today as they prepare to graduate.

1 Cor. 12:26
If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.

Greeting

Greeting each other is an important blessing to share.  Lucy and Emma are very good at it.

3 John 1:14
I hope to see you soon, and we will talk face to face. Peace to you. The friends here send their greetings. Greet the friends there by name.

What do you think happened at the church today?

Connie has just arrived to clean up for Sunday.

Fish

Our little fish seem to be doing well in the little pond at the Bible Garden.

AC time is here!

The Crossroads needed a new condenser for the air conditioner, but a smaller one, as the building is no longer used as a restaurant.
Dave took care of that for us today.

Proverbs 25:13
Like the coolness of snow at harvest time is a trustworthy messenger to those who send him; he refreshes the spirit of his masters.

Jim

Jim loves to work.  But he doesn't want his photo taken.

New planting

The plants I ordered arrived before the wedding - yay!  However, they look quite small in the large bed beside the church ramp!
Now to spread some mulch so it looks neater...

Happy Birthday Pastor!

Our birthday celebrations can get a bit informal around here.
However, Someone always needs to get a present, regardless of whose birthday it is.
Hannah made Beth this shirt with Beth's own designation for herself.
The first wedding guests arrive tonight!

Honeymoon Africa-style

Craig is taking Hannah back to Kenya after the honeymoon for the summer.  He loved it there.

Singing...

...with Beth at the piano is quite a challenge.  Here we have a rendition of one of her great favorites, "O Holy Night".

Surprise!

The Ladies' Circle put on a shower for Hannah last night!  She was totally surprised.
They also honored women in the church who serve in various capacities, such as Cheri, Lenora, Janice, Connie and others.

A new game!

Hannah has been teaching us a new game.  Jules and Shannon, Scott, and Dave all stopped by and gave it a try last night.  It's a lot of fun - come along and try it yourself!

Box Turtle

Look what the Dales found in Watson Brothers parking lot!I like the similar expressions here.

Music practice

One of my favorite times of the week is praise team practice on Sunday mornings at 9 am.

Isaiah 51:3
The LORD will surely comfort Zion and will look with compassion on all her ruins; he will make her deserts like Eden, her wastelands like the garden of the LORD. Joy and gladness will be found in her, thanksgiving and the sound of singing.

Greene County Habitat's 25th Anniversary Celebration!

A bunch of JBC folks went to the 25th Anniversary dinner for Greene County Habitat.  Our church has been a big supporter since it's inception.  Paige Stanko won three Chinese auction items!  Hannah Dorean, Bill Bebber, Jim Townsend and Cheri Kuharcik each won a basket too.  What a night!

Youth Work Day

Saturday morning Chad and a bunch of fellows went off to work at the CBM camp nearby with Mark Redka, even though it was pouring rain!

 Way to go, guys!

Gather together....

Here are the remains of the peace pine tree,
ready to be mulch for the church landscaping.

Composting is hard work!  And how nice that it  can be an activity to gather around.
Acts 14:27                          On arriving there, they gathered the church together and reported all that God had done through them and how he had opened the door of faith to the Gentiles.

Removing the Bushes

Dwayne and Buddy Walters brought their beautiful backhoe or whatever it is to pull out the bushes along the church ramp.  More good neighbors!

Visitors

Some of you may remember Audun and Aasne Haugeplass, Carrie's friends from Norway who have become like family for us. Anna Celia and Samuel (our godson) have been born in the last few years, and they are all coming for Hannah's wedding.  Audun will be playing in church on June 6th.  He is a church organist at home in Gol, Norway.

Replacement

The trustees are considering taking out these bushes - they have been beautiful, but are outgrowing the space.
I have ordered some caryopteris cladonensis and leptodermis oblonga for this spot, but there might  be room for something else if you have an idea you want to pass along.  We're looking for a very small, soft shrub style of plant.

Tulip blooms!

That is, the tulip poplar tree is in full bloom. Stunning!!

Nesting

Don't use the parsonage front door!!!
