surprise!

The family put on a surprise 60th birthday party for me!  They performed a song led by John, we danced, led by Hannah, and partied, had cake and presents.  A very satisfactory celebration.  The best thing is having family together. The unbest was not having Matt, Asa, Phin John and Ilo.  We missed you, dear ones!
John is training home tonight.  Beth and I will stay in DC for a few more days.

In DC...

...and look who arrived to help celebrate!  Emily, Samara and Renne came up from OK!  What a lovely surprise!

We need help!

Our neigh -borhood has become the home for a large  number of stray cats.  No one claims them, though some of the neighbors feed them.  And they keep multiplying!  No one wants to pay the $50 each to have the Humane Society take them.
So we are looking for folks in need of a cat or three.  I have to admit they are friendly and beautiful.  The one in the third photo has a damaged leg, but gets along fine.
Please let us know if you can help out.
We plan to find homes for all 10 of them before Christmas if we can.
Thanks!

Contrails

Hasn't the moon been amazing lately!  Still the faithful witness in the sky.

And all the contrails today had a bunch of us enthralled.

Emily on this car - is it a foretaste of a ride on a car in a parade some day?  Probably!

This wreath came from a school fundraiser the Mundells are participating in.  It smells so good!

Thanksgiving Potluck Supper

Cheri plays for our communion service to break the fast for the Planned Famine participants.  The ladder is in place for Christmas Play practice.
These fellows were hungry after 30 hours of not eating!

The college students working with Greene County Habitat took home some fruit baskets.

More Sunday

...another skit....
..time to pick a star and buy a gift for a needy family...

...some college folks who are spending some of their Thanksgiving break working with Greene County Habitat joined us today for church and potluck ...

...and finally, a peek at our audio-visual  guy at work.

Travels

Scenes from my travels today -
- on the way to meeting for exercise....

-the Dale boys were at Joey's house where I went to do some Habitat work with her.

-I love red berries!  This bush was in Barno's yard - nice to have a visit with them.  They told me they check out this blog - hi Doris and Charley!

Around the house...

Once in a while Beth will listen to a book, if the right person is reading.

Tonight she pulled out the headphones and picked out a Caillou episode to watch on computer.

Abigail...

..Nelson can get really wild, especially when Charlie stops by.  Here she is dancing to "Who Let the Dogs Out!"  Very entertaining!

Tuesday Evening

Emily Dale's grandmother knit this sweater before she was married - it just surfaced in the move, and looks totally wonderful.

Dave iced this cake himself and we all enjoyed it.
Beth has met a new friend - Perry Cunningham, the current Vice President of Greene County Habitat.

We were all at the Ken Medema concert at the University tonight.  Ken is a blind Christian musician with amazing talent.  We first learned of him when we lived in Georgia, and have seen him several times over the years at Waynesburg U.

Youth Group Party

The youth group kids put on a party for Jen and Chad sunday afternoon, to thank them for all they do.   Some of us brought treats.

Maybe you haven't seen the small kitchen in the Crossroads basement, so here's a glimpse.  Bill Bebber has moved out of the basement and into the Dales' former house.

The next photo shows the huge screen TV on the wall behind Chad.

Some of the kids papered the Teagardens' car as part of the fun.  I saw them cleaning up bits of toilet paper today.

Another lovely Sunday

Kelly collected our shoebox gifts today - I think I heard we had about 35.  Nice work everyone!

The middle photo shows two lettermen.  I'm sure we're a bit famous as churches go for claiming the Mundell brothers as our own.  Update: Zach won the Mr. Mike contest last Friday!

And the last photo shows the Christmas play practice.  It's coming along!

It may be a grey day today, but it's sunny in the Kingdom.
