Crosswalk

We had a lovely day for the crosswalk today, sponsored by the Jefferson-Morgan ministerium. There were about 70 people walking the 4.5 miles, with folks taking turns carrying the cross from Hewitt Presbyterian Church in Rices Landing to Jefferson Baptist Church in Jefferson.

I always find it a cheerful time of fellowship, not so reminiscent of Jesus' walk to the cross. It doesn't seem possible to walk along on a sunny day with friends, in an effort to honor our Lord, without some cheerfulness creeping in. So I don't stress about being one with the Lord in His time of suffering on the day we set aside to remember his crucifixion. I just walk with a thankful heart, grateful for the joy He came to bring.
