Connie Mego

Connie is the middle of three children who grew up on the Ankrom farm on Anderson Road near Jefferson.  She was actually born in Ohio.  Her Dad worked in construction.
They grew corn and raised chickens, pigs, sheep, and horses.  Connie’s mom did the milking, and Floyd, Connie and Barbara worked in the hayfields and the garden.
Connie went to high school with Ken, her future husband.  He lived in the Fairgrounds in Jefferson, and was on the football team.  On Ken and Connie’s first date they visited his sister.  Ken gave Connie red roses.  They were married the next month on Income Tax Day, and have been married for 40 years as of 2012.  They have three daughters, Susan (Randolph), Michelle (Nelson) and Anna (Diamond).  They also have 6 grandchildren, Cameron, Christian, Brady, Abby, Brooke and Katherine.
Over the years, Connie has worked as a waitress at the Chicken House and a  typist for the Democrat Messenger.  She worked at 77 Market too.  She is currently working as the janitor for our church.
